MESI will be present at the Charing Cross International Symposium together with our partner Medi UK, with whom we will share Booth 217. At the Booth MESI and Medi will invite attendants to walk through the House of Blocked Arteries and get to know the importance of measuring the Ankle-Brachial Index as the first step on the wound care pathway. At the Booth MESI will also be performing 1-minute ABI measurements with its innovative MESI ABPI MD product.
 

 
This year, besides the exhibition, the Charing Cross Symposium (CX) will hold various hands-on workshops to provide practical training for the attendees which will include, amongst others, Peripheral, Vascular Access, Venous, iWounds and Aortic Workshops.

MESI will be attending the CX Peripheral Workshop as the only attendee presenting the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of peripheral arterial disease in reducing severe consequences for patients. The workshop will be organised by the Healthy Arteries Worldwide Campaign, which aims to increase awareness about PAD in order to increase early diagnosis.

80% of amputations could be prevented with early diagnosis. Therefore, MESI is supporting the Healthy Artery Campaign’s activities aiming to increase the number of Ankle-Brachial Index measurements.
 

Jakob Šušterič, CEO of MESI, will be participating as a speaker at a lecture at the Symposium. The topic of the lecture is Patient Awareness of Peripheral Arterial Disease and the Use of Ankle-Brachial Index Measurement. This lecture is part of the Peripheral Critical Ischaemia Challenge, which is going to take place on Thursday, 18^th of April 2019 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm in the venue’s lower auditorium.

The Charing Cross Symposium (CX) first took place in 1978 at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith, London, and is therefore the longest-running vascular and endovascular symposium in Europe, as well as one of the largest vascular and endovascular meetings in the world. Since 2013 the event has been held in Olympia London. It is meant for vascular and endovascular surgeons, cardiovascular specialists, interventionalists, imaging diagnosticians, neurovascular interventional radiologists, stroke neurologists, vascular scientists and nurses and physicians in training.

The Charing Cross Symposium (CX) is organised in three-year cycles. In the first year the Symposium raises vascular and endovascular controversies, so that in the second-year the world-class faculty challenges the available evidence and, in the third year, a consensus can be reached and discussed with an expert audience. This year, challenges will be discussed. With more than 4,000 participants from 86 countries, it is the leading global event in its field.
