In this interview, we sit down with Primož Verbič, CEO of MESI Iberia, to discuss how MESI is revolutionizing diagnostics across the Iberian Peninsula. From integrating seamless digital tools to tackling healthcare disparities in rural areas, MESI Iberia is on a mission to transform patient care.

Primož, what is your vision for MESI Iberia, and how does your team bring it to life?

We envision a future where diagnostics are seamless, digital, and accessible – eliminating the inefficiencies of multiple tools. Our goal aligns with MESI’s mission: simplifying patient assessments through integrated diagnostics. But we’re not just providing technology; we’re transforming the diagnostic process. By collaborating closely with healthcare professionals and decision-makers, we’re making assessments easier, faster, and more precise, leading to better care and healthier patients.

How have healthcare professionals in Spain responded to MESI’s solutions?

In one word: relief. The moment doctors or nurses pick up the MESI mTABLET, they experience the ease of diagnostics without outdated systems or multiple devices. Its seamless connectivity with EHRs reduces paperwork, speeds up decision-making, and enhances patient care – whether in primary care, hospitals, or home visits.

The €5 million Galicia Initiative – why is it a game-changer?

The Galician Health Service (SERGAS) has invested €5 million to equip 400+ primary health centers and home-visit nursing teams with the MESI mTABLET. In 2024 alone, this enabled 17,500+ home visits, improving healthcare access for underserved communities. With full EHR integration, the initiative is tackling healthcare disparities, positioning Galicia as a leader in equitable, patient-centered care, and advancing preventive medicine and chronic disease management in rural areas.

Addressing rural healthcare challenges in Catalonia, what’s the goal?

Many rural patients struggle with access to quality diagnostics, often traveling long distances for routine assessments. This pilot project brings diagnostics closer to communities, equipping rural healthcare centers with integrated tools for on-site patient assessments, eliminating the need for long journeys to urban medical facilities.

What’s next for MESI Iberia?

We have three main objectives:

  • Expanding our footprint by strengthening MESI’s role beyond primary care and into hospitals.
  • Building key partnerships with institutions and policymakers to accelerate adoption of digital diagnostics.
  • Transforming healthcare by bringing integrated diagnostics to every corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

MESI Iberia is at the forefront of healthcare innovation, driving change through digital integration and strategic partnerships. With impactful projects in Galicia and rural healthcare advancements in Catalonia, the future of diagnostics in Spain is looking brighter than ever. Stay tuned as MESI continues to shape the future of patient care, making diagnostics smarter, faster, and more accessible for all.
